Wirral Tristars & Youth Members

Hello all Tristars, Youths and parents,

Please note that all sessions over the next two weekends, that is the 14th/15th Feb and the 21st/22nd Feb, ARE CANCELLED.  This is to coincide with the schools half term holiday.  We are sorry this is necessary but swim sessions in particular have been poorly supported - we regularly have fewer than half the number we need to cover the cost of hiring the pool.

As an alternative, I will lead social rides on Saturday 15th and 21st but only if there is sufficient interest.  I need more than one or two of you to turn up.  Parents are very welcome to ride with us.  Please contact me via alan@merseytri.org.uk or text to 07946 608658 to express your interest in riding on either or both of these dates and where you would like to join the ride.

On 15th the plan would be to depart from the Oval promptly at 09:30 and stop at a second meeting point at Smithy Hill, Thornton Hough, at around 10:00 to 10:10 depending on how fast we are able to ride.  The aim would be to reach the Eureka Café for refreshments, a renowned meeting place for cyclists.  We stick to quiet roads as much as possible.  The last section to the Eureka is on the A540 but there is a footpath that can be used by anyone who is particularly nervous about traffic.  Total distance from the Oval is around 20miles but there will be a good rest at the half way point.  The pace will be easy and nobody will be left behind so there maybe a number of stops to regroup.  Club bikes will be available for anyone who would like to borrow one - please let me know if you do.

An alternative route for a second ride is to New Brighton but this depends on parents ability to transport bikes to the start at Woodchurch Leisure Centre.  However, the plans are very flexible and they depend on interest shown anyway.

I look forward to hearing from you.  Keep the swimming and running going during the holiday if you can and please go to the club website www.merseytri.org.uk to enter the aquathlon on 8th March.  This is the first event of the NW Region series and it is on home turf (and water).
