SEALMAN AQUATHLON - FINAL INFO

This is the final information on the club Aquathlon championships which will take place at Ainsdale Beach on Saturday 6th September.

Open to all club members [the event is being jointly organised by RNLI Lifeguards who will be competing in the same race]

Registration will be at the RNLI unit which is visible at the entrance to the beach which is just past the Pontins Holiday Camp PR8 2PZ. Please arrive for 7.50 as we hope to start before 8.30 [lifeguards are working after the event]

At registration, pay the £7 fee and give name and race category [open or V40] Your number will be marked on both arms and a M for Merseytri marked on calf [or somewhere else if calf guards are worn]

Bring tri kit, wetsuit [recommended even if some of the lifeguards may swim without] goggles, a bright coloured swim hat and run shoes] There will be a transition area marked with small screens on the beach but please don't leave excess kit in there.

The race will consist of a beach start and short run into the sea. The  swim course will be approximately 100m out, 500m parallel to the beach and 100m return to the beach. The swim course is marked by 2 large orange buoys which we have borrowed from Lakeside. Large flags will mark the swim entry and exit.

From transition the run will be all on firmish sand and involve 2 out and backs one long south run [4k] and one short north [1k] The finish will be alongside the RNLI unit. [all distances are approximate and may change according to conditions]

All Mersey Tri finishers will receive a special SEALMAN towel [if we don't have enough I will order more and have them by next week]

If time permits, there will be a short presentation after the race. GOOD LUCK should be a thriller.
