Finding The Oval Sports Centre, Bebington, Wirral.
From the North via Liverpool & Birkenhead (Queensway) Tunnel.*
Leaving tunnel toll booth, follow A41 – N.Wales and Chester.
At traffic island carry straight on, S.P. A5136 – Bebington/A41- N.Wales & Chester.
S.O. at traffic lights and move to R.H. lane on approach to next traffic island.
At traffic island, take 2nd exit S.P. B5136 – Bebington, onto New Chester Road.
S.O. at traffic lights (Bedford Road)
At next traffic lights turn right into Rock Lane West.
At ‘GIVE WAY’ sign bear left (Wheelbase cycle shop opposite, by bus stop).
At traffic lights turn left, S.P. Port Sunlight Village & Lady Lever Art Gallery.
From this junction, The Oval is 700m, on right hand side after end of dual carriageway.
*Tunnel tolls are charged at £1.50 per journey per private car/mini bus up to 9 persons; use an automatic lane if you have the correct change. Copper coins will NOT be accepted by an automatic toll machine. If you are pulling a trailer the toll is £3.00 – use a manned toll lane.
From the South via A41.
Heading north on A41 look out for Village Hotel. This is on right at Bromborough between two sets of traffic lights set about 150m apart.
Continue along A41 towards Birkenhead. After short distance, on approach to traffic island, take left turn at traffic lights, S.P. Port Sunlight Village & Lady Lever Art Gallery onto Bolton Road.
S.O. at next traffic island.
At end of Bolton Road, facing railway embankment, turn right and continue to T junction.
Turn left, under railway bridge then immediately right at traffic lights & past Bebington Station.
From this junction, The Oval is 400m on left hand side.
From M53 Motorway.
Leave M53 at junction 4, S.P. Clatterbridge.
From northbound slip road take 5th exit or from southbound slip road take 2nd exit, S.P. Bebington – B5137(B5136). After 0.6 mile on this road turn left at traffic lights into Church Road, (Three Stags Pub on corner), S.P. Bebington.
Follow this road for 11/4 miles. At traffic island by Rose & Crown pub take 2nd. exit,
S.P. B5136 – New Ferry, up hill past shops.
At traffic lights by Bebington Station, bear left. From this junction, The Oval is 400m on left hand side.
By train.
Bicycles can be carried free of charge on Mersey Rail Electric train services and you can travel to Bebington from any station on the Mersey Rail network but, you may have to change trains in Birkenhead or Liverpool. Bebington Station is served by trains on the Liverpool/Ellesmere Port and Chester service.
Inter City services link with Mersey Rail Electric services at Liverpool Lime Street or Chester.
Turn right along Old Chester Road when exiting Bebington station. The Oval is 400m from the station on the left hand side.
